A year into his tenure as CEO of Filtrabit, Dr. Kim Fagerlund shares details on the updated strategy of the company.
Filtrabit recently performed a strategy review process that resulted in a number of updates. The company has entered a stage of rapid growth, and it was decided that the strategy period should be kept deliberately short at three years. A period of narrowed focus in both geographical and industry targeting is required to successfully navigate the first stage of our growth path, now that the product is ready and proven.
We have a clear mission – solving the particulate emissions of industry – and where we can make the most impact, is precisely where the largest opportunity exists for us. It’s where the biggest volumes of dust particles are generated, where existing technologies are insufficient, and there’s the will to do something about it.
These criteria are often met in operations that handle metals and minerals, with the most problems arising where there’s crushing, sieving and dropping of material from one conveyor belt to another.
Our sector focus is thus on mining and metals production, with a special emphasis on the steel industry. These are industries where the value of the recovered material is high, and the direct offsetting of virgin resources makes a real CO2 impact.
The geographical focus was set to the three regions with the most commercial potential, where we have cultivated a partner network.
The first is our home court, the Nordic countries, where technological and environmental leadership combines with a heavy concentration of business in mining, metals and minerals.
Second is our next-door-neighborhood, Central Europe, where some of the oldest and most established companies in these heavy industries are in a rush to meet ambitious environmental regulations.
Third is India, where incredible scaling is coinciding with a national awakening and a call to action regarding pollution.
We’ve made key additions to our executive team and business development organization, and have our sights set on signing a significant number of deals this year.
While our go-to-market-strategy is in full swing, our R&D department will continue to develop units capable of handling even larger volumes of gases, as well as select technology partnerships that have the potential to revolutionize an industry.
