Filtrabit participated in the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) on 27th-29th October in Sydney, Australia. The Finnish delegation was led by Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Sakari Puisto and included Filtrabit CEO Dr. Kim Fagerlund and VP of Sales Pasi Pesonen.
Filtrabit was included in the delegation to Australia for the explicit purpose of introducing flow-dynamic dust separation technology to a wider audience in the Australian mining sector. The Australian government is leading the world in regulating Respirable Crystalline Silica (RCS) exposure in the workplace, which together with the immense size of the Australian mining industry, makes it a destination with the most potential impact from Filtrabit’s innovation.
Flow-dynamic dust separation technology is uniquely suited to dealing with the harsh conditions on the Australian continent, where water is often extremely scarce. The rapidity of the new regulation, and the changing nature of the mining operations in general, only add to the advantages that accrue from the modularity and portability of Filtrabit’s flow-dynamic dust separator units.

Pasi Pesonen, VP of Sales, Filtrabit:
“The Finnish business delegation formed a tight group during the demanding trip. Many thanks to the organizers, Minister Puisto, and fellow business delegates Kari Vyhtinen from Endomines, Kari Föhr from Roxon, Karri Keskinen from Kalmar Oceania, Danie Groenewald from Valmet and Hannu Lehtinen from GTK.
This is precisely the type of co-operation a small country like ours needs in order to make it on the world stage. Finland is home to some of the most innovative companies in many different sectors but especially in what I’d call ‘high tech heavy industry’. The more I attend these international delegations, the more appreciative I am of the ecosystem and landscape of know-how we have.”

“We had the unique opportunity to get into discussions with such entities as Agnico Eagle, Austmine, the South Australian Government, Harmony Australasia, KfW IPEX, the Department of Energy and Economic Diversification of Western Australia, European Resources Limited, Invest VIC, Chalice Gold Mines, FMS Group, TKIL Industries and Mining Australia – to name a few.
This is a concentration of decision-makers in the mining sector that’s hard to beat. It made it worth the 15,000 kilometers of travel.”
