The presentation, “Flow-dynamic dust separation installation to Outokumpu’s stainless steel plant in Tornio, Finland”, was focused on the successful circular economy collaboration between Outokumpu and Filtrabit. At the Tornio plant, valuable ferrochrome dust is collected by Filtrabit’s flow-dynamic dust separator in an uncontaminated state, where it can be returned to the process, reducing the need for virgin resources as a byproduct of capturing particulate emissions.

The material was heavily supported by figures from a University of Oulu study on the installation, which found the flow-dynamic dust separator unit directly profitable for Outokumpu. The value of the collected ferrochrome and the reduced waste management fees outweigh the combined lease and operating costs of the device.
The presentation was well received and resulted in a number of interested parties approaching the presenters after its conclusion. The event organizers praised the talk for bringing actionable solutions to the forefront.
About Filtrabit Filtrabit is a Finnish manufacturer of industrial-scale dust extraction systems. Filtrabit’s solution effectively extracts microparticles from industrial dust-laden gas streams, which helps reduce air pollutants from industrial sources and accelerate emissions reductions through the reuse of recovered raw materials.
